Welcome Back: Pond Season is Around the Corner

As the snow begins to melt and the days grow longer, many of us are already thinking about spending more time outdoors again.

Spring is when ponds, waterfalls, and fountains slowly come back to life. Water starts moving again, plants wake up, and outdoor spaces begin to feel inviting after a long winter.

For our team, this time of year is all about preparing for the season ahead. Spring openings, design conversations, and planning new projects are already underway across the Niagara region.

If you've been thinking about adding a water feature to your property or improving an existing one, this is the perfect time to start the conversation.

Eco-Friendly Pond Upgrades for Spring

Many pond owners use spring as an opportunity to improve the health and efficiency of their water features.

Here are a few upgrades that can make a big difference:

LED Lighting

Low-energy LED lighting allows you to enjoy your pond long after sunset. Modern systems create beautiful evening views while using very little electricity.

Automatic Dosing Systems

Dosing systems automatically add beneficial treatments to the pond water, helping maintain clarity and balance throughout the season.

Aeration Systems

Aeration improves oxygen levels in the pond, which benefits fish, plants, and the entire ecosystem.

Aquatic Plant Refresh

Adding or dividing aquatic plants in spring helps maintain natural filtration while bringing colour and texture back to the pond.

These small upgrades often have a big impact on both the health and enjoyment of a water feature.

If you’re interested in any of these upgrades talk with our maintenance guy Evan, send us an email or go through our new client portal!

Introducing Evan: Pond Maintenance Manager

Many of you already know Evan from our build team, where he has worked alongside Thomas for the past three years helping bring ponds and waterfalls to life.

As more projects are completed each season, proper pond care has become increasingly important. Evan is now stepping into the role of Maintenance Manager, helping ensure that the ponds and water features we build continue to look and function their best throughout the year.

With a strong eye for detail and a growing understanding of aquatic ecosystems, Evan will be leading seasonal openings, maintenance visits, and ongoing pond care for many of our clients.

Keep an eye out for our new maintenance van, which will soon be hitting the road this season.

New Maintenance Client Portal

We’re excited to introduce a new maintenance client portal designed to make pond care even easier.

Maintenance clients now have exclusive access to order anything their pond needs directly through the portal. From aquatic plants and fish to filtration components and water treatments, everything can be requested in one convenient place.

Simply place your order online and we’ll bring the items along on our next scheduled maintenance visit. No extra trips, no hassle, just an easier way to keep your pond looking its best throughout the season.

Early Spring Pond Care Tips

As temperatures begin to rise, it’s important to ease your pond back into the season gradually.

Here are a few early spring reminders:

◽ Remove debris that accumulated over winter, such as leaves or branches
◽ Check pumps and plumbing before restarting the system
◽ Hold off on feeding fish until water temperatures consistently reach about 10°C (50°F)
◽ Begin introducing plants once the risk of frost has passed

A proper spring opening helps ensure your pond stays healthy throughout the entire season.

Project Feature: A Backyard Designed for Gathering

One of our favourite recent projects began with a simple concrete slab and the vision to create something far more inviting.

The space was transformed with a custom flagstone patio, a beautiful timber-framed pergola built by our friends at Revive Timberworks, and a large flagstone fire pit area designed for gathering with family and friends.

From the patio, stone steps lead down to the highlight of the project: a 15-foot pondless waterfall paired with a cozy sunken seating area. The sound of moving water and the surrounding natural stone create the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day.

Set on a stunning property that already included a swimming pool and a natural pond further down the hill, this design brings together water, fire, and stone to create a backyard retreat that feels both intentional and effortless.
